Why inoculate wastewater? |
 |
Simply put, biological treatment of wastewater attempts to create optimal environmental conditions to allow removal of organic matter through the activities of native waste microbes. The system is usually effective when all conditions are optimum, however increased hydraulic loading due to population growth, excess amounts of slowly degradable compounds from domestic and industrial sources, and problem synthetics have introduced severe strains into the system.
Our ENVIRONOC® blends were selected for their effectiveness in enhancing the operation of wastewater treatment facilities by compensating for the strains on the system mentioned above. Whatever the treatment technology, domestic or industrial, microbial inoculation (bioaugmentation) may be able to help optimize the performance of the system. Results may include: recovery of lost capacity; increased removal of BOD and TSS; better settling; fewer grease related problems; nitrate reduction; and odor reduction. |
How does it work? |
ENVIRONOC targets tough organics:
The strains present in the ENVIRONOC® blends are among nature's most powerful and useful degraders. Besides being prolific degraders of "garden variety" wastewater nutrients, they have been selected for their exceptional abilities to oxidize a wide range of stubborn organics. |
 |
ENVIRONOC reduces BOD and TSS:
Guaranteed "point-of-use" viability of the ENVIRONOC® blends assure the addition of billions of bacteria with very versatile and sophisticated appetites. They provide enhanced removal efficiency of common wastewater organics while reducing effluent discharge levels of BOD and TSS. |
 |
ENVIRONOC shortens shock recovery:
Regular addition of the ENVIRONOC® blends will establish high numbers of hardy and versatile microbes which will diminish the effect of shock upsets, as well as provide quick recovery to acceptable operation parameters. |
 |
ENVIRONOC degrades fats, oils and greases:
The excellent fat and oil oxidizing capabilities of the ENVIRONOC® strains reduce operational difficulties at the WW plant and in the collection system due to grease build-up. The sludge-settling and dewatering characteristics will be improved, and effluent discharge levels will be reduced. Lift stations will be easier to maintain, operate with less float fouling and often have reduced odor levels. |
